Roads to Independence

A nonprofit organization

Roads to Independence was formed in October of 2000, to serve people with disabilities who primarily live in Davis, Morgan and Weber Counties.  Our staff is dedicated to working with individuals with disabilities to identify and remove barriers, and to assist with living independently in their own homes and communities.

Roads to Independence services as a strong advocacy voice on a wide range of national, state, and local issues.  We work to assure physical and programmatic access to housing, employment, transportation, recreation, health and social services.

Core Services include but not limited to:

  • Information and Referral
  • Independent Living Skills Training
  • Peer Mentoring
  • Advocacy Services
  • Nursing Home Transition and Diversion
  • Transition Services from School to Adulthood
  • Assistive Technology Acquisition and Reutilization

What is the Independent Living Philosophy?

Consumer choice, autonomy and control define Independent Living.  The philosophy holds that individuals with disabilities have the right to live with dignity and appropriate support in their own homes;  they have the right to fully participate in the activities of their communities; and to control and make decisions about their own lives.
