Rocky Mountain Innocence Center

No other organization in the region provides post-conviction innocence investigation and litigation services – and the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center (RMIC) provides them entirely for free. RMIC is able to do this through an innovative program that combines the efforts of trained and supervised law students from local law schools, as well as local volunteer attorneys. The students earn academic credit by conducting the investigations in RMIC’s cases to uncover the evidence that will prove innocence. The local attorneys get the opportunity to provide pro bono litigation services for the innocent person – which can be the most rewarding experience of a legal career.

RMIC is currently investigation and litigating 47 cases - and that number is growing. We receive an average of 20 requests for assistance each month.

With your support, RMIC will be able to continue providing free services to innocent prisoners and work to prevent future wrongful convictions.

No one benefits when an innocent person is convicted – the crime victim receives neither justice nor closure; the real criminal is still at-large; the public’s trust in law enforcement and the criminal justice system is weakened; and precious public funds are wasted on the cost of trying, convicting, and imprisoning an innocent person.

Thank you for your support!
