Rotary District 5400 Charitable Programs Inc

Table Rock is an icon in the Treasure Valley and one of the most hiked destinations in the Treasure Valley by locals and visitors alike.  Table Rock has been neglected creating an environment of graffiti, littering and vandalism.  This project to REClaim Table Rock focuses on three components:  Recreation, Education and Conservation.  The focus of Recreation is encouraging locals and visitors to responsibly utilize Table Rock for hiking and fitness.  The focus of Education is encouraged with the help of the Idaho State Historical Society in the development of historically significant interpretive signs that help preserve the heritage and legacies of our local history.  Lastly, the focus of Conservation is to clean up Table Rock on a consistent basis and help deter delinquent behavior

The Rotary Club of Boise East, one of the newest and smallest rotary clubs in Boise, has partnered with the Idaho Historical Society, Sector Seventeen, and the community to revitalize Table Rock.  The first steps was the catalyst of removing the graffiti covered concrete bench and installing five new graffiti resistant benches and one interpretive sign.  The project has raised awareness of the importance of Table Rock and the impact of Rotary in our community.

We need to raise an additional $20,000 to complete the project, install 2 more benches and 3 interpretive signs.  The 3 interpretive signs will education visitors on the history of Native American Heritage and prominent Native American sites, local geology and history of Bogus Basin, and the history of the cross and the "B" landmark.

The Sector Seventeen partnership is bringing local are to Table Rock and dramatically reducing the graffiti through the painting of murals on the buildings.  The mural subjects are a mix of the historical images, contemporary designs and urban art.  The artwork helps deter vandalism by building a sense of ride in otherwise simple utility structures on Table Rock.  The murals are a unique attraction to Table Rock and will continue to draw visitors to Table Rock.

The RECLaim Table Rock project is a Rotary Club of Boise East project.  We are managing our funds through the District 5400 Charitable Programs Inc..  This allows for tax deductible donations as the District 5400 Charitable Programs Inc is a 501(c)(3) created for Rotary Club.
