The Rustin Fund for Global Equality

This Pride month, the Rustin Fund for Global Equality is asking for your help to support the Haitian-based LGBTQI+ organization The SEROvie Foundation.  SEROvie has been operating in Haiti for decades doing crucial work and needs your financial support to sustain their LGBTQI+ SAFE HOUSE in Haiti.

The SAFE HOUSE, located in Port-au-Prince, is a safe haven for LGBTQI+ Haitians seeking refuge from violence.  The SAFE HOUSE is a temporary shelter (for up to 10 days) for LGBTQI+ people fleeing all types of violence including domestic violence but most recently gang violence.  Where do you go if the gangs are fighting in your neighborhood?

The SAFE HOUSE has capacity to house 20 individuals and supports men, woman, trans people and their families. The SEROvie Foundation is currently experiencing tremendous demand for the SAFE HOUSE and needs more resources to buy water, food and other supplies to provide on a daily basis.

The SEROvie Foundation is a Haitian community organization that has been providing health services to Haitians for over 20 years.

They offer free specialized sexual and reproductive health services, psychosocial support and family support services. They work to provide free health services to men, sexual and gender minorities, including men who have sex with men, sex workers, their clients and families. They work to prevent and treat infectious diseases and above all want to help people live healthier lives.  Check out their website for more information.

The Rustin Fund for Global Equality was created in 2015 to honor the legacy of Bayard Rustin, a black, openly gay American civil rights activist.  The Rustin Fund is a web platform for grassroots LGBTQ+ organizations based in low and middle income countries to fundraise in the United States.
