San Angelo Amateur Radio Club (SAARC)

The San Angelo Amateur Radio Club (SAARC) and the Tom Green County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) are all-volunteer, non-profit organizations dedicated to promoting fellowship, technical education, and public service through amateur radio. Our mission is to increase community awareness and understanding of amateur radio communications while providing reliable emergency, disaster, and health and safety communication support to local, regional, and state agencies during times of need.

The San Angelo Amateur Radio Club (SAARC) and Tom Green County ARES are volunteer-driven, non-profit organizations that play a vital role in public safety, education, and emergency preparedness across West Texas. Our members are licensed amateur radio operators who provide reliable communications during disasters, when traditional systems fail. We support local emergency management, law enforcement, fire departments, and health agencies by ensuring continuous communication in critical moments.

Beyond emergencies, we empower the community through workshops, licensing classes, and STEM-focused education and outreach. We actively support science, technology, engineering, and math by collaborating with schools, civic groups, and nonprofits to promote hands-on learning in radio science and electronics.

With a strong commitment to inclusivity and innovation, SAARC and ARES build community resilience and foster a culture of service through amateur radio in San Angelo and the surrounding region.
