South City Community School

A nonprofit organization

South City Community School is a PK3-8th grade school located near Tower Grove Park, just off of Kingshighway. We exist to be an intentionally accessible Christian school in the City of St. Louis, to provide students a feast of ideas preparing them for their next academic endeavor.

We serve families who live primarily within a few miles of Tower Grove Park-zip codes where education for young children is one of the highest felt needs, according to demographic studies. But our families also commute from as far as University City, Affton, and Chesterfield. The overwhelming majority of our families live in the City of St. Louis, and we seek to be a school that serves this area, intentionally drawing in families from a broad range of ethnic and economic backgrounds.

We are a unique option for families who desire a faith-based school specifically, or for families who may or may not come from a faith background but are otherwise struggling to find a school option in St. Louis that provides the kind of positive, supportive, life-giving experience they want for their child. We offer our students relational connection and engagement with the world through a broad curriculum rich in the humanities. Our Charlotte Mason approach incorporates a robust program of regular enrichment trips around St. Louis and nature walks through Tower Grove Park, for example. Our teachers incorporate trauma-informed, attachment promoting practices into their classrooms to nurture our students socially and emotionally as well as academically. As we pass our first decade, we see more evidence that we are meeting an important need in St. Louis. Our enrollment is growing, our partnerships are strengthening, and we are excited for the steps ahead as we deepen our roots here in the City of St. Louis.
