Sewickley Township Public Library

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Library is to encourage and support lifelong learning through reading, educational, civic, cultural, recreational and public service information and programs to the residents of the Township, as well as to all residents of Westmoreland County, as part of the Westmoreland County Federated Library System.

Each year we offer an eight-week Summer Reading Program for children and young adults ages 0-18. There are four different age groups: Read to Me Club: through age 5; Beginning Readers Club: ages 6-8; Summer Reading Club: ages 9-12; and Teen Reading Club: ages 13-18. The Summer Reading Program consists of three different segments. The first segment involves the completion of reading logs. Children through age 8 will earn one raffle ticket for every three books someone reads to or with them. Children ages 8-18 earn one raffle ticket for every hour they read. Raffle tickets are enetered into drawings for incentive prizes ranging from books and movies to passes to the Zoo and Carnegie Science Center. The second segment of the program involves weekly activities at the Library, which consist of storytimes, crafts, games, snacks and much more. And finally, the third segment will be special evening performances by professional actors and entertainers.
