This is the 31st year that the South Florida SPCA has served the horses, livestock and other non-dog, non-cat animals of Miami-Dade who are dumped in the Everglades, abandoned in farm fields, abused and nearly starved to death. Your donation ensures that the lives of these animals will be saved and that they will not continue to suffer cruelty.

You ensure that the mission of the South Florida SPCA will continue. You will provide a safety-net to horses like June and Summer, a mare and daughter recently rescued from starving to death on the edge of the Everglades. June was so emaciated that she was unable to stand without mechanical support.

South Florida SPCA partners with Miami Dade County Department of Animal Services and the Miami-Dade Agricultural Police to respond 24-7 to calls to rescue horses, donkeys, cows, goats, pigs, fowl, and all manner of other animals, like camels and Llama's, from the plight they find themselves in, through no fault of their own.

In 2022 we rescued 38 horses, 14 cows, 14 goats, 1 pig, 3 sheep, 4 donkeys and 4 rabbits and rehomed 32 horses, 4 rabbits, 7 goats, 1 donkey, 1 pig, 2 sheep, and 12 cows.

So far in 2023 we have rescued 13 horses, 6 cows, 1 donkeys, 18 goats, 3 sheep, 19 turtles, 2 pigs and we have rehomed 9 horses, 9 cows, 7 goats, 3 sheep, 2 donkeys, 2 pigs, and 19 turtles.

Once we rescue the animals, we set out to bring them back to good health. Once they are fully rehabilitated, through our adoption process, they are available to a permanent loving home. We are diligent to ensure each animal is placed in a home where they can thrive and have a happy loving life. Horses always have the safety net of being able to return to the SPCA at any time for any reason. No cows, sheep, goats or pigs are ever rehomed where they will find themselves in the food chain or be sold at a livestock auction.

Rescue, rehabilitate, rehome, repeat!
