Southern Illinois Regional Wellness Center (SIRWC)

SIRWC is a Community Health Center committed to you and your family. We believe Health Care should be a right for everyone, not just a privilege for a few. Every person should be afforded the opportunity to see a quality provider no matter who you are, no matter what insurance you have, if you're underinsured or uninsured. We'd love to have you join our family and become your Medical Home. SIRWC has provided care to families in the Metro East for nearly 25 years. We provide primary medical care from birth to end of life. In December of this year, we plan to add preventive dental services on site and provide services for children and adults, two days a week.

SIRWC is designated as a Mental Health/ Behavioral Health provider and began providing services in August 2018. Funding needed to provide these services include renovations to a building adjacent to our clinic site. Services will include prevention and treatment for addictions and mental health services. Funding for the renovation of the existing space is budgeted at $15,000. Donations specifically for Behavioral Health will assist us in diagnosing, treating, walking with patients and families struggling with addictions and other disease processes related to drugs, alcohol and mental health diagnosis.

2019 marks the third year of our summer Back To School Event and our goal is to provide 1,000 backpacks and school supplies for the Washington Park and Greater East St. Louis Community. To meet our our goal we need to raise $5,000 for this event, which is held the first weekend of August. We provide a hot-dog lunch, music and giveaways for kids including bicycles and helmets.

A third project is to improve privacy in the existing clinic using "white noise" machines for each of our 10 exam rooms. The costs for 10 is $600. Donations for this project can be designated specifically for "privacy project".

Our biggest project is the transition to a new electronic medical records platform. Electronic records ultimately help us provide more efficient clinic visits and ultimately greater success for healthier patient outcomes. The goal to fully implement the electronic system plus software and hardware upgrades is $30,000. Donations made to IT upgrades will help support this ongoing transition for the balance of 2018.

Current Practitioners:

•DR. DOLORES GUNN, FAMILY PRACTICE
Medical Director, Board Certified, and offering compassionate care to patients from birth to end of life. Dr. Gunn also provides pre-natal care through the second trimester. Dr. Gunn joined SIRWC in November 2015 and was appointed SIRWC's medical director in January 2016. Dr. Gunn is an excellent diabetes practitioner and educator.

•NATASCHA RICE, NURSE PRACTITIONER
N.P. Rice has worked as a family Nurse Practitioner since 2010 and currently treats children and adults. NP Rice will also begin providing Behavioral Health Services in 2018 as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining SIRWC, NP Rice worked with Chestnut Health Systems and Sparta Hospital.

•DAPHENE SMITH, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT,
P.A. Smith has practiced in clinic and ER settings for over 9 years. She treats teens, adults and seniors in all aspects of primary care. Her practice at SIRWC includes treating and caring for women's health needs. PA Smith's practice also includes family planning.

MEDICARE/MEDICAID, ALLKIDS, BLUE CROSS, ILLINICARE, MERIDIAN AND MOLINA HEALTH, AS WELL AS MOST PRIVATE INSURANCES AND WE SEE PATIENTS ON AN INCOME BASED, SLIDING FEE DISCOUNT PROGRAM.
