St. Vincent de Paul Society of Bryan/College Station

The St. Vincent de Paul Society BCS is a Catholic lay organization of dedicated women and men, an outreach arm of our 5 Catholic Churches. We serve our community and our neighbors in need without discrimination.
The St. Vincent de Paul Furniture Ministry is a volunteer effort that seeks to place new or gently used furnishings and household goods in homes that desperately need them. The furniture ministry is the only one of its kind in the community, but it coordinates with other agencies to identify and help those in greatest need.

Families sleeping on the floor, eating supper on their laps, clothing stored in boxes. This is how some of our neighbors in BCS live. They may have a roof over their heads, but hardly any furnishings that most of us take for granted.


This ministry serves families who have lost everything to disasters like fires; those whose poverty makes basic furnishings unattainable; and others who are no longer homeless and have a home for the first time in years - many with children.


The free furnishings provided are not luxury goods but necessities such as beds, tables and chairs and basic household items that bring comfort and order to any home. Ministry volunteers pick up donations from individuals, church and community garage sales, estate sales, and surplus furniture from businesses and government entities.


We need your help to make us better prepared to respond to the needs of families and individuals in crisis.

A woman who had been living out of her car for 10 years, until the air conditioning went out, finally got help to get an apartment. The Furniture ministry gave her a chair, couch, bed and several household items. She was so thrilled, she sat down in the chair and cried, saying, "I have not had a chair of my own for 10 years." Among hugs and tears, she thanked profusely the team that delivered the items.

A woman starting over as a former victim of domestic violence asked for a few things for her apartment, including a washer and dryer. She was told that we rarely get those donated. Several days later we had them donated and was able to surprise her with them. She was very grateful.
