Sacramento Literary Review is a free quarterly literary arts magazine featuring boundary-pushing work from emerging and established writers and poets from the greater Sacramento area and around the world. We are a California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a proud member of the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses.

There are thousands of literary magazines out there. What makes us different? Unlike most, we don't charge a fee to submit. Nor do we charge for subscriptions, even to our print edition. As far as we know, we are the only print literary magazine to operate solely on a pay-what-you-can basis, demonstrating our firm commitment to supporting readers and writers from all backgrounds.

We chose this subscription model because we believe it is the best way to get as many eyes on as many great stories and poems as possible. SLR exists as a platform for the great writers of tomorrow to showcase their work, sometimes for the very first time, to dedicated readers.

What our readers and contributors have said:

"Not only is the physical journal elegant and artistic (a true plus!), the work included is terrific."

"The magazine's quality spurred me to submit."
