Sadie Nash Leadership Project’s mission is to strengthen, empower, and equip young women and gender-expansive youth of color as agents for change in their lives and in the world. Our purpose is clear: we affirm our steadfast commitment to young women and gender-expansive youth of color. We believe in their leadership, and in our community. We will always center care, teaching and learning, activism and organizing and we are committed to remaining a space where young people are safe, loved and free.

#GivingYouthDay - is our take on #GivingTuesday. #GivingYouthDay embraces a unique take, reimagining the day with a distinct focus on elevating the voices and agency of young people and leaning into the power of community collaboration. Sadie Nash Leadership Project spearheaded this initiative in reaction to the increasingly competitive nature of #GivingTuesday among nonprofits. SNLP chose a different approach—one that encourages cooperation over competition. By launching #GivingYouthday in partnership with other youth organizations through our participation in this year’s Brooklyn Gives event, SNLP and its partners aim to create a new spirit of generosity that centers on community care, collaboration, and the powerful potential of young people.

Who We Are

Sadie Nash Leadership Project, founded in 2001, provides award-winning experiential social justice education to over 700 young women and gender-expansive youth in New York City and Newark each year. Operating at the intersections of love and rigor, Sadie Nash Leadership Project utilizes the methodology of popular education to build community, critical consciousness, and college and career readiness for our students. We lay a foundation so that our participants (whom we refer to as Nashers) can lead lives in committed pursuit of joy and liberation for themselves and their communities.
