The S.A.F.E. Center serves individuals and families throughout Phelps County who are affected by dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sex trafficking.

Our services are free, confidential, and available to anyone who needs them.

For someone in Phelps County, reaching out to The S.A.F.E. Center may mean talking with an advocate when they are unsure what to do next. It may mean help creating a safety plan, finding emergency shelter, navigating the legal system, accessing resources, or simply having someone listen and believe them.

But our work does not begin and end in a moment of crisis.

We also work throughout the communities we serve to prevent violence before it happens. Through education, outreach, bystander intervention, and partnerships with schools and community organizations, we are helping build communities where people recognize violence, know how to respond, and understand the role each of us can play in prevention.

What Support Can Look Like

One survivor called our crisis line desperate for help and was immediately met with kindness and understanding. For the first time, she realized she wasn't alone and that she had options.

A mother shared that leaving felt impossible. Entering shelter with her child gave them safety and stability while she determined what came next for their family.

Another survivor reached out after hearing a S.A.F.E. Center presentation. She was experiencing stalking and learned through that presentation that help was available. Connecting with an advocate gave her access to safety planning, resources, and ongoing support.

Every person's circumstances are different. Our role is not to decide what someone should do. It is to make sure they have information, options, support, and someone beside them as they decide what is right for them.

Phelps County is part of our community, and we are here when someone needs us.
