Asian Family Support Services of Austin

Asian Family Support Services of Austin, or AFSSA (formerly SAHELI) is a nonprofit organization based in Austin, Texas, that provides assistance to Asian and other immigrant families dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking.

Our mission is to promote abuse-free Asian communities through advocacy, support, awareness and access to social services.

We envision healthy, abuse-free Asian communities.

We are a survivor-centered organization supporting women, men, and children who have been affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, or trafficking. Although AFSSA's focus is on the Asian community, we do not discriminate and our services are for anyone who needs assistance. Our services are based on the inherent philosophy that each individual’s experiences, level of resource access and needs differ from one case to another. We strive to provide tailored, cultural and language specific services to anyone who enters through our doors.

Our bilingual and bi-cultural staff with our own interpreters provide services in 30 different languages in the following Central Texas counties: Travis, Williamson, Hays, Caldwell, and Bastrop. 

City of Austin RISE Funding 2020

On April 16, 2020, the City of Austin passed Relief in a State of Emergency Funding. AFSSA will administer funding first to AFSSA clients (who are survivors of violence) who are current as of April 1, 2020. After current clients are screened and an eligibility determination is made, applications will open to the community. Community applications for RISE funds will be made available directly through AFSSA and also through community partners as soon as possible, depending on funds being received from the City. Only fully complete, signed applications with all required documentation will be reviewed. Community volunteers and staff will be available to assist with applications.
