If women-owned businesses that are based in the U.S. were their own country, they would have the 5th largest GDP in the world.  They generate nearly $1.4 trillion in economic impact annually and represent 30 percent of all U.S. firms.

In Utah, significant data suggests we have an even bigger opportunity to improve our local economy by focusing on women:

  • 73,000 Utah women-owned businesses.
  • Utah ranks in the top 10 in economic clout.
  • Utah ranks #4 for growth in firm revenues.

To the WBC, these statistics represent an enormous opportunity. We identify women entrepreneurs as a priority because we know this cluster of small business owners is full of potential for success.  By supporting women in business with entrepreneurial one-on-one consultation, training, networking, and mentoring programs, we help to empower their self-sufficiency and growth, which in turn helps our organization reach our vision of increasing success and strengthening Utah's economy.

The Salt Lake Chamber Women's Business Center is one of more than 100 Women's Business Centers across the nation, working to deliver counseling, training, mentoring, and networking services to women entrepreneurs. These are important services that contribute to a global movement to include women in our economic vitality. We are able to provide these services at low-cost and free of charge, due to a matching grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the financial generosity of our members and donors.
