Uniting Utah’s composers and underserved populations through innovative approaches to music, education, and outreach. Salty Cricket Composers Collective creates positive, prosperous, and empowered futures for all.

We achieve this through areas of activities: Educational K-12 outreach through El Sistema@Salty Cricket, and our new music ensemble that performs the works of living composers who currently reside in Utah.

Our educational outreach is based on the internationally renowned El Sistema model. El Sistema is built on the idea of educating the young musician from the ensemble down, rather than private instruction up. Students in our Jackson Elementary program recieve 13 hours of afterschool programming every week, 42 weeks a year, at little or no cost to their families. We provide intensive, professional, and rewarding musical training in a safe, student-centered environment.

Our support of Utah-based composers is the only one of its kind in the state. Our annual concert series, Quodlibet, consists of 4 concerts per year. Each evening consists of a different theme, ensemble, and our audiences vote for their favorite composition at the end of each night.

Gifts of EVERY SIZE help our heart beat stronger. We can only continue this exciting work with the generosity of our community. Join our family: You can be a Salty Cricket, too!
