The San Diego Children’s Choir (SDCC) was founded in 1990 by Polly Campbell, a devoted music professional and educator,  to give children access to choral music education, which had been diminished or removed from public schools. What began with two ensembles and 42 enrollees has grown to five age-based ensembles, two introductory programs for preschool to 3rd grade, a special research partnership with UCSD, and an enriching touring program for choristers in grades 3-12. Believing that no child should be denied access to music education, SDCC strives to make its programs accessible to all through financial aid, a school outreach program, & program sites located throughout the county.

SDCC is the oldest and largest choral music program for children in the county. In fact, we are the only countywide choral music program available to San Diego’s children. Since its founding, more than 9,000 children have received up to 12 years of choral music instruction and performance experiences.

An active performing arts organization, SDCC is woven into the fabric of the wider San Diego cultural community. SDCC choristers perform at over 20 events per year throughout San Diego. We regularly partner with other arts organizations such as the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Master Chorale, and the Voices of Our City Choir.
