MUSIC EDUCATION IS A PROVEN METHOD FOR DRAMATICALLY IMPROVING STUDENT OUTCOMES

Through our Balboa Park-based conservatory and nationally recognized community after-school music programs, San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory has witnessed firsthand what researchers repeatedly conclude: students that participate in high levels of music education, particularly those of lower socio-economic backgrounds demonstrate significant academic, workforce, and civic engagement gains.

THESE REMARKABLE GAINS RECOGNIZED FROM PARTICIPATION IN MUSIC EDUCATION INCLUDE:

> Improved class attendance
> Reduced behavioral problems
> Increased test scores in both language comprehension and mathematics
> Increased family involvement in school programs
> Greater community engagement

...and more.

Yet San Diego area students and those beyond our region still go without music education in our schools.  This is particularly true for low income and ethnically diverse children.

HELP US FULFILL OUR VISION OF MAKING MUSIC EDUCATION ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE FOR ALL!

Your support is critical to the success of programs like our nationally recognized Community Opus Project, which over the last 5 years has brought music education to more than 70 elementary, middle and high schools in Chula Vista.

Your support helps carry our vision forward, expanding our reach throughout San Diego's schools and beyond.

Your support helps build an educational system in which every young person inspired by the art and rigor of making music embodies a future rich with hope, joy and the rewards of personal achievement and community involvement.

Thank you for joining our ambition to bring music education to every child!
