  • I am Aeshaq, from Afghanistan. Since I came to America as a refugee, I learned about Montessori education. In my country, preschool is unknown. School starts at age 7.  Young kids have almost no learning (most parents are illiterate). Can pre-school be Awesome? YES! Now I am trying to start Wind of Hope - Montessori-Inspired Early Childhood Education - in my province of Ghazni: a series of individual, home-based, small programs, eventually locally funded (by small parent contributions); to provide through the Montessori methods not only content, numbers and letters but evidence-based critical thinking, PEACEFUL RESOLUTION OF DISPUTES, RESPECT FOR WOMEN AND FOR DIFFERENT OTHERS - and at the same time to create economic opportunity for a series of woman-directed, home based, family businesses. Is that Awesome?
