BUNDLE OF JOY -

Every Mom and Baby Deserve a Healthy Start - San Mateo County Health Foundation's "Bundle of Joy" Program

The San Mateo County Health Foundation believes that a positive start in life is the beginning of good health. That is why in 2006 the Foundation began the Bundle of Program.  The Bundle of Joy program is a two-phased program. During pregnancy, expectant mothers are provided an easy to read comprehensive prenatal book written in either English or Spanish titled Prenatal Care Lasts a Lifetime. Written by two San Mateo Medical Center clinicians, Tracy Butler, CNM and Mary Ramirez, NP, the prenatal book details important events and situations new moms should expect in the subsequent months leading up to and after the baby is born. In addition, at her first baby wellness examine, the new mom, is presented with a special reusable baby bag filled with diapers, clothing, toys and other essential baby items.

COASTSIDE DENTAL CLINIC-

San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is an essential community provider to the most vulnerable and underserved in San Mateo County. In addition to an acute care hospital in San Mateo, the Medical Center operates nine outpatient clinics.

March, 2016 an anonymous community member made a generous donation to San Mateo Medical Center’s Coastside Dental Clinic, located in Half Moon Bay.  That means for every dollar donated through Silicon Valley Gives on May 3, 2016, those dollars will be matched.  Built in 2012, Coastside Dental Clinic has 4 dental chairs, an X-Ray alcove and a Lab. Sixty percent of the patients served at the clinic are farmworkers, many of whom do not receive Medi-Cal benefits.  The dental clinic offers comprehensive dental care for adults, who receive their medical care in the San Mateo Medical Center system, as well as all children, regardless of what medical facility they receive their medical care.  The dental clinic is open Monday to Friday (8A.M. to 5P.M.) and on Thursday evenings until 8:00P.M.  In addition, there is a "drop-in" dental clinic every morning for patients needing emergency dental treatment. The Coastside Dental Clinic plays an important role in the health and welfare of people that live in the area.  To learn more about Coastside Dental Clinic and other dental programs at San Mateo Medical Center hospital and clinics, contact Ann Marie Silvestri at (650)599-3892.
