San Saba County Friends of Animals is an all-volunteer organization formed in 2012 to help homeless animals in our area.  Our mostly rural county in central Texas has a very small human population (under 7,000) and no private animal shelter to receive and care for stray or abandoned pets.  All too often, dogs and cats in San Saba County whose owners no longer want them are dropped along a highway or on a county road and left to fend for themselves.  Other than posting on our Facebook page, we have no organized system for reuniting lost pets with their owners. The outcome for these animals is almost always tragic.

Our group has created a foster-based rescue program to help these animals by caring for them and providing vaccinations and other medical services, then adopting them out to suitable families or transferring them to non-euthanasia shelters outside of our area.  We also provide assistance with feral cat colonies in our county through our trap-neuter-release program and sponsor a low-cost spay/neuter program for dogs and cats.  We have begun an educational outreach program to encourage responsible pet ownership in our community.

We are a 501(c)(3) public charity, so donations to our organization are tax-deductible.  As an all-volunteer group, we have no staff expenses.  We pledge to use all donations to fulfill our mission of helping animals in need.
