The 2018 Women Build Committee is a fearless, enthusiastic group of women who have a goal of raising $100,000 to build a Habitat home in Southern Pines. The Hard Hats & Heels Fashion Show is designed to raise funds for the build. The fashion show will be held Thursday, March 15th, from 6:00 – 8:00 at the Country Club of North Carolina.  We expect to have 150-200 guests attending.

There will be at least sixty VIP seats in the front rows, seating will be in rows of chairs surrounding the catwalk. VIP tickets will cost $80.00 each and, in addition to two drink tickets and hors d’oeuvres, guests will receive a gift bag from Habitat. General admission tickets for $60.00 receive one drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres.  Guests will have a chance to shop at table displays from 6:00 – 7:00 during the cocktail hour, intermission and after the event.

Andrew Pellegrino of Bamboo in Southern Pines will be the show’s hairstylist.  He is donating three stylists to style the hair of the models prior to the show at CCNC.

Promotional Campaign: Looking for Betty Builder

Leading up to the Fashion Show, ten area upscale privately owned boutiques will be participating in the “Looking for Betty Builder” Campaign, which will generate interest and excitement during the weeks prior. Betty Builder is our Habitat for Humanity Women Build mascot, who will be displayed in each of the shops for six days (Monday-Saturday). The women looking for Betty Builder can find clues in multiple media outlet including The Pilot, Sandhills Habitat website, and the Facebook page.  All the fun will begin the second week in January when Betty goes into hiding at the first shop on Monday, January 8th, where she will remain until Saturday the 13th.  Betty will be moved each Saturday before closing to the next shop.   In addition, the shop that hid Betty the week before will be promoted. Betty Builder raffle cards will be available at each boutique to record winner contact; participants need only to say “Sally Sent Me” to qualify for the $250 Cash Raffle. Winner will be pulled at the Fashion Show; need not be present to win.

About the 2018 Women Build Committee

Habitat for Humanity 2018 Women Build is focused on helping Alicia and Linwood to realize the dream of home ownership.  They raising their two young grandchildren and live in a cramped apartment where the electricity bill alone exceeds $300.00 a month. With their new energy efficient home, their mortgage and utilities will be a fraction of their current housing expense. This will allow them to build financial security for their family and invest in a future for their grandchildren.  Alicia has worked at First Health Moore Regional Hospital for over 30 years, and this steady income will ensure the mortgage payment which in turn provides the income for Habitat to continue to build affordable housing. In addition to the 300 hours of sweat equity each, they will put in into the project, they attend classes that create strong homeowners skills.  Their home will be located in West Southern Pines and construction will start in April 2018.
