Sankara Eye Foundation, USA (SEF), founded in San Jose, California, and Sankara Eye Care Institutions, India (SECI), headquartered in Coimbatore, India, have been working since 1998 towards Vision 20/20 by the year 2020; a mission to eradicate curable blindness in India by year 2020.

Starting with one hospital in Coimbatore, India, performing about 8,000 free eye surgeries in 1998, the movement has grown to 8 hospitals all over India performing over 160,000 free eye surgeries in 2012. Our newest hospital in Kanpur, UP will be inaugurated in 2014.

Today, Sankara is one of the largest free eye care provider in the world and on March 4, 2013, Sankara performed its millionth free eye surgery.

It costs only $30 to change someone's life by donating for a cataract surgery.
