Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office Pipe Band

On December 5, 2011, Sheriff Laurie Smith authorized the official formation of the Pipes and Drums of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, which  performs an average of 50 events per year under the leadship of Pipe Major Lettie Smith. Comprised of both civilian volunteers from the local community and surrounding law enforcement agencies, the band has approximately 25 volunteers ranging in age from 13 to 75. Approximately two thirds of the band are pipers; one third are drummers.

The band prides itself on performing at various community activities throughout the Bay Area. Highlights from 2015 include SJPD's memorial service for Michael Johnson, Every 15 Minutes events at local high schools, police and fire academy graduations and the annual Rose, White and Blue and Veteran's Day Parades in San Jose.

On December 15, 2015, the SCCSO Pipe Band received a Plaque of Commendation from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors for its exemplary record of public service. Band members contribute more than 2,000 volunteer hours on an annual basis.
