There is no adage more accurate than “THE WHOLE IS GREATER THAN THE SUM OF ITS PARTS.”

The Santa Clara County Food System Alliance is a group of local leaders who are working hard to provide healthy and affordable food for everyone in the county and secure strong local livelihoods in food and agriculture. By working together, we make sure that the actions of our own organizations are the most strategic and collaborative they can be. We also identify and take action in those places where we can’t do it alone, where we need to harness the power of leaders in all parts of the food system.

The Santa Clara County Food System Alliance has been taking great strides in order to improve our local food system. Since its inception, this group of diverse stakeholders has undertaken many initiatives, and achieved numerous successes while collaborating for positive change. Some of these accomplishments include completing a comprehensive county-wide food system assessment, providing input on the Healthy Eating/Food Access/Sustainable Food Systems section of the Heath Element for the General Plan, organizing and hosting farm tours, and hosting a Healthy Communities Forum.

With your help, we can continue our mission towards creating a sustainable food system in our county. Please help us meet our goal of raising $25,000 this year.  By doing so, you will help us fulfill our ambitious plan for 2014. We will continue to promote the Santa Clara County Food System Assessment community-wide and work closely with partner organizations, elected officials, and the communities we serve to develop and implement our action plan for the recommendations detailed in the report.

Thank you for your support in continuing to create a healthy and vibrant county!
