Sarasota Crew Inc

Sarasota Crew utilizes competitive rowing to promote strong character, high integrity, positive self-concept, contribution to community, and a healthful lifestyle for all youth and adults in the Sarasota county and its surrounding communities. 

"Empowering Lives. One Rower At A Time." More than a simple slogan, it is the reason Sarasota Crew was created in 2002, why we have grown into one of the largest rowing programs in the country and why we succeed in not only producing national championships but making a positive difference with every rower we encounter. People from all walks of life come to us because we do not focus on the importance of winning, but rather, because we create a healthy environment – socially, physically, emotionally – and teach the proper skill set to empower every rower to conquer the next challenge in their life.  We have a unique approach to making a difference in the lives of our members. Since our inception, over 2,500 youth have benefited from our development program, with the majority continuing to row in college.   Many of our youth participants get accepted into their reach schools, receive athletic scholarships and earn academic scholarships. Handicapped, seniors, and at risk youth join our organization.  We serve not only Sarasota County but draw participants from many of the surrounding areas. 

Our Newtown Rowing Initiative introduces Sarasota Crew to the underserved youth from Newtown, the most racially diverse community of Sarasota. Newtown is rich in history as it was the first neighborhood established by African Americans with undeniable challenges of racism and segregation. The Newtown Rowing Initiative provides these youth the quality results and life lessons that Sarasota Crew delivers while also building a bridge within our community that is as important as ever.
