Safe Passage for Wildlife on Our Roads: Your Help Makes It Happen!

Every day, wildlife face a deadly threat on our roads.  But together, we can change that.  Wildlife crossings—bridges and tunnels designed for safe passage—work, and the return on investment is clear:  they save lives, prevent accidents, and pay for themselves in just a few years.  With your support, we can create a future where both people and wildlife move freely and safely across our landscapes.

Our Goal:  $100,000, with a $10,000 Matching Gift!  Thanks to a generous matching gift of $10,000, your donation will go twice as far.  Every dollar you give brings us closer to implementing wildlife crossings and fencing along SR224, creating a safer environment for our community and the wildlife that also call it home.

Why Now? Why You?

Our resident elk herd crosses SR224 near McPolin Farm daily, especially during the winter.  The risk is real—without immediate action, these majestic animals face the constant threat of vehicle collisions.  And it's not just elk—deer, moose, and other wildlife are vulnerable too.

Reflective signs and reduced speed limits are insufficient to stop the heartbreaking collisions.  We need wildlife crossings, fencing, and cattle guards to guide animals safely across our roads.

Your support will fund action.  Your donation will help fund an independent engineering assessment for wildlife crossing locations along SR224.  This critical step will guide our efforts to secure permanent crossings in advance of the road widening of BRT and in advance of the 2034 Olympics, providing safe passage for wildlife to cross our roads, increasing safety for everyone.
