The San Bernardino City Library Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation formed in 1995 to provide funding for areas of education, programming, materials, capital improvements and special projects. During the City of San Bernardino’s bankruptcy, the Foundation played an important role in maintaining library programs and services that might otherwise have been cut.

Recently Funded Projects:

  • $306,000 SAN BERNARDINO PUBLIC LIBRARY TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE (new computers and computer servers for library patrons and staff)
  • AMERICAN GIRL DOLL lending program allows families to check out real American Girl Dolls of various ethnicities, including accessories, a book, and a journal to record their adventures with the doll
  • BRAINFUSE (providing free online homework assistance & tutoring in English and Spanish)
  • BRODART BOOKS (new books in circulation at all library branches)

As a separate entity from the City of San Bernardino, the Foundation can support projects and programs beyond the usual funding the Library receives from the city.
