School-based health centers bring health care services to children where they're at, in school! It just makes sense. Nearly 100 centers and programs throughout the state provide quality health care services on or near school property that help students be healthy and succeed in school. Services are focused on the prevention, early identification and treatment of medical and behavioral concerns that can interfere with a student's learning and success.

The School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan's (SCHA-MI) mission is to advocate for and advance school-based and school-linked healthcare ensuring all Michigan children have access to comprehensive prevention and healthcare services.

Michigan's school-based and school-linked health centers have been delivering comprehensive health care and a wide range of support services for over 20 years.

Today, there are over 90 school-based and school-linked health centers and programs in the state of Michigan delivering a range of primary, preventive, and early intervention services to 200,000 children and youth annually. Centers are located in elementary, middle and high schools in urban, rural, and suburban areas across the state. These centers and programs have emerged as a powerful tool and safety net in meeting the health care needs of children and adolescents.

SCHA-MI is a leader in youth engagement work, annually hosting Project Voice: A Dynamic Approach to Youth Leadership that brings together youth ages 12-18 from across the state to discuss health and education related topics that are relevant to them.
