When we want kids to learn how to play football, we take them out onto a football field. So it makes sense that when we want kids to learn about the natural world (science), we should take them out into the field to do so.

That's what Science Camp is all about. We get kids out into the field to learn science, meet scientists, hang out with others who like science, and, at the same, have a safe, enriching social experience, including making great new friends.

We are currently offering two sessions of Science Camps for Teens, Hawaii. Land & Sea, July 1-10, focuses on volcanoes, marine science and the flora and fauna of the Big Island. Air & Space, July 11-20, focuses on astronomy, atmosphere, climate and climate change. Each day, campers (ages 13-17) and staff head out on field trips to explore the Big Island's incredible environmental diversity, to learn about and do science, to meet scientists. 

The field trips are backed up by short programs our Program Director and staff create that reinforce what we learned on those trips. For example, after visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, one of our groups broke up into teams to create 10x10 foot miniature national parks.

Science Camps of America is a certified 501(c)3 non-profit corporation based in Hawaii. We have set up a scholarship fund because we want to make this fantastic experience available to every teen that would like to go to Science Camp. Last summer, through private fundraising, we were able to provide at least some financial aid to about half of the campers. To make camp feasible for more teens who are passionate about science, we need your help by contributing whatever you can to the Science Camp Scholarship Fund.

And as we continue to grow, our goal is to offer additional science learning opportunities for science buffs of all ages, 3 to 103!
