Steel City Sports World

Steel City Sports World's (SCSW) mission is to improve the lives of young people from underserved communities in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas through sports and the media. SCSW believes that youth need the resources, and skills to become effective media spokespeople and advocates for social change.

Steel City Sports World is sponsoring  "Saving Lives Through These Lines" which will give youth an opportunity to televise positive images of themselves on television, PCTV-21  and the internet. This program will allow low income, at risk, youth to highlight the affirmative qualities that traditional media does not promote. 

The "Saving Lives Through These Lines" program will provide a strong mentoring component. Each young person will be exposed to life skills development with an emphasis on job readiness based on necessary spiritual, academic and technical training. In addition learning highly marketable skills in television production our program designed to build relationships which sustain progress and growth despite the numerous negative influences encountered by our young people today. 

SCSW  teaches participants how to create positive images of themselves and build their self-esteem while providing them with excellent television production training.  We hope to reduce the teen drop out rate and allow youth to look at other options for employment in the communications field.
