The mission of SCUBAnauts International is to educate teens in the marine sciences, enabling them to make a positive impact on the environment and empowering them to become tomorrow's leaders.

Since our founding in 2001, we have provided youth 12 through 18 extensive training in both SCUBA diving safety and marine science.  The nauts (what we call our members) are taught by volunteer dive professionals and scientists in both classroom and hands-on environment.

Once they are trained in the various underwater survey methods, the nauts participate in a variety of projects - some led by other nauts, others led by our partners.

Recently, through our partnership with Hernando County, SCUBAnauts performed the first of many fish surveys on reef balls that have recently been deployed of of the Hernando County coast.

SCUBAnauts Trent and Vivian perform Roving Fish Count off of Hernando County

During our "cold" winter months, the nauts (and at least one parent) go through our bi-annual DAN 1st Aid for Professional Divers course and our SCUBA Life-saving and Accident Management (or SLAM) training.
