Seattle Metro Pickleball Association (SMPA) started in 2017 with a mission of expanding pickleball play opportunities in the Seattle metro area. From newly lined tennis courts, to increased indoor play times, to adding semi-permanent nets at locations as diverse as Shoreview Park, Miller Playfield, Green Lake, and West Seattle, SMPA works to improve pickleball for you. Your donation will help to fund our priorities which include working to develop dedicated pickleball facilities, and as always, making pickleball available to players of all ages, abilities, income levels, and ethnicities, in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

SMPA gets involved in the community in the following ways:

  • Sponsor of the first pickleball license plate in the U.S., with proceeds going to build and maintain dedicated pickleball courts throughout Washington.
  • Member of a technical work group for the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, helping develop policy for a multi-million-dollar COAF grant which will build athletic facilities throughout Washington.
  • Sponsor of the Diversity and Inclusion in Pickleball Fund, a volunteer outreach program enlisting community members and youth from underserved communities to teach and play pickleball.
  • Host of the largest annual pickleball tournament in Washington State, the Seattle Metro Pickleball Classic.
  • Host of Mariners Pickleball Night at T-Mobile Park.
  • Sponsor of the Westside Pickleball League, which raises money for school athletic programs.
  • Hosting pickleball events to help fundraise at Alzheimer's Longest Day and Fred Hutch events.
  • Working with Seattle Parks and Recreation to expand pickleball court facilities.
