Second Home Child Care Center

Second Home is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley on the Muhlenberg Lutheran Church campus.  Our mission is to provide children of Harrisonburg with a safe place to learn and grow that ensures academic success.  Second Home is a United Way organization and connected with the local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. 

Second Home envisions a community where all children are afforded the same opportunities to thrive and barriers of poverty and difference are overcome.  Families whose children attend Spotswood, Waterman, and Smithland Elementaries as well as Thomas Harrison and Skyline Middle School deserve a chance to have their children recognize their potential.  Our teachers are certified and volunteers are trained to offer children academic success.

Second Home strives to offer safe and affordable before and after school care to families in these school districts.   The cost for the first child is $12 a week and only $7 a week for each sibling.  Doors open at 5:45am to allow families whose work schedules do not coincide with school's schedules to drop off their children.  School buses collect and return the children to Second Home where parents can pick up their children until 6:00pm.
