Second Hope Rescue Inc

Second Hope Rescue, Inc., was started when we saw how many dogs were dying every day in the shelter ONLY because they were born. 

• Born with a look or characteristic that labeled them a certain breed. 
• Born of a breed that meant they were going to be "big".  
• Dying because the family that loved them when they were newly born and young, decided they were now too much trouble. 
  • These precious souls are often too "old" for most rescues to waste their precious time and dollars on. 
• Many dogs die everyday because their previous owner wasn't responsible and didn't teach them how to be a good companion.  Often times these behaviours are fixable and won't reappear once they are placed in the right forever home.

 

Almost every senior dog or cat that comes into rescue requires dental work, eye checks, and senior bloodwork for illnesses that are just showing (sometimes the reason for them being left at a shelter or surrendered to rescue to start with).

Sometimes the dogs and cats that come into Second Hope Rescue's program never do find a forever home outside of their foster home, but they are loved and cared for, included in the family until they Cross the Bridge either due to age or failing health.

Second Hope never gives up, regardless of how long the dog or cat has been in rescue, we remain committed to finding them their own home.  Over the past year we have had three (3) dogs adopted that were in the program for over 4 years!

Donations are down but our commitment to the dogs and cats currently in our program has never wavered.  Unfortunately what has slowed down is the number of dogs and cats that we are able to help.  Dogs that will ultimately die since rescues that take our type of dogs are few and far between.

With your donations we can save more dogs and cats from dying alone and scared in a shelter.  Or help the owner that can no longer provide for their beloved companions either due to their own health or financial hardship.
