Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank leads the fight against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response. Second Harvest provides food and support to 500+ community partners and programs across 23 parishes. Our staff and volunteers distribute the equivalent of more than 38 million meals a year.

Hunger is a challenge across South Louisiana-even in your neighborhood. One in six people and one in five children don't have enough food.

Food banks nationwide are facing major shortages, and it's hitting us hard. Recent Census data shows that the poverty rate is up dramatically, including double for children. At the same time, rising costs for groceries, housing, and other essentials are putting additional strain on families, making it even harder to keep food on the table as demand continues to grow.

On top of this, more families are seeking help and as many as 80,000 children in the Greater New Orleans area lose access to school meals for the summer. Second Harvest is ramping up our Summer Feeding Program and working to keep food pantries stocked to serve our neighbors facing food insecurity. But we need your help.
