Senior Citizens Of Rowlett

SCOR is today organized to provide the following:
• Funds for seniors and their families in need of financial assistance to pay utility bills, provide food credits, medical expenses, and rent or mortgage payments.
• Holiday entertainment for local nursing homes, such as Beacon Harbor and Rowlett Rehabilitation. We have also provided sing-alongs and "guess that tune" shows for residents.
• Needed clothing and personal goods to nursing home residents, usually those without family, particularly during the holiday season.
• A Health Seminar/Luncheon at the Community Centre, normally the first Tuesday of the month, dedicated to informing the senior community about health issues particular to seniors, such as diabetes, cardiovascular issues, foot and ankle problems, and dementia and alzheimer's; additional topics have included annual Medicare changes plus scams challenging seniors.
• SCOR has also in the past provided financial support to other organizations assisting seniors, such as Life Message, the Visiting Nurses Association and St. Vincent De Paul Society; however, because of financial constraints we are no longer able to assist other organizations.
