Sequim Health & Housing Collaborative

As a community, we struggle with homelessness, behavioral health, physical health, food insecurity and substance use disorder. These issues were prioritized by City of Sequim officials as well as Service Providers at the Sequim Human Services Summit last fall. Currently, there is no single nonprofit that provides this full range of services.   

Because of the lack of a continuum of care, insufficient data and limited funding available, City of Sequim officials called upon providers to unite with an outcome-focused service delivery program focusing on these five service areas:  homelessness/housing, substance use, behavioral health, physical health, and food insecurity. The formal partners of this Collaborative include; Sequim Food Bank, Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic, Peninsula Behavioral Health, Healthy Families of Clallam County, Olympic Community Action Programs, YMCA of the Olympic Peninsula, Olympic View Community Foundation and Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic. 

Each of the above-named agencies has assigned representatives to the SHHC Committee from varied positions and levels within their agencies; some direct program staff, development staff and executive directors. SHHC will also ensure that two members, with voting power, are persons with lived experiences to help steer us as we build our programs and project. Without the voice of the people we aim to serve, we would be creating systems and projects that may not work for our people as their needs evolve within our community.

This is the first time these organizations have gathered in a formalized capacity with unified programs to provide services and collect critical data about health and homeless in Sequim.  Based on what we learn from the data and navigator experiences from the people they serve, we will refine project priorities, develop plans that best meet the needs of people in our community.
