Serenata: We are Boise's Community Orchestra!

Our mission is to inspire a lifelong passion for music, enrich the lives of our musicians and audience, and engage the people of the Treasure Valley by performing free concerts that are fun, family friendly, and innovative.

Serenata is Boise's community orchestra. There are over 90 volunteer musicians involved.  The stories of our members are interesting and varied.  We range from post high school to retirement.  Our members include current, aspiring, and retired professional musicians, adult music students, and all areas in between.  A common story for our members is that they played in high school, and then didn't know what to do with their talent and passion for music.  Serenata is the answer. We are very grateful to have Jennifer Drake as our artistic director.  She is a violist with the Boise Philharmonic, principal violist for Boise Baroque, and violist with Opera Idaho.  Additionally she teaches about 40 private students and works with music programs in the school system for Boise and surrounding communities.  Her positive and constructive leadership provides great inspiration and helps us produce wonderful music.  And it's fun! We perform 4 concerts a year, including the Boise Sing Along Play Along Messiah. Admission is free but we are grateful for and need  donations.  We produce concerts that have excellent artistic content and are also relevant to our audience.  We keep our admission free so that audience members who might otherwise not be able to attend live orchestra concerts can afford to do so.  We also design our programs in ways to incorporate fun and to draw new community listeners to help develop an appreciation of live orchestra performances.
