Founded in 2006, Seventh Generation Institute is a nonprofit 501(c)3 conservation organization, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Seventh Generation Institute presently has two projects underway,:

• Building Riparian Resilience through Beaver Restoration
• The New Mexico Pika Monitoring Project.

Mission

Seventh Generation Institute works to conserve biological diversity, restore healthy ecosystems and foster sustainable resource use.

The majority of Seventh Generation Institute's effort is focused on New Mexico. 

Approach
7GI's approach to achieving our mission is based in three concepts: applied science, collaboration, and impact.

Applied Science - or, does it work?
Applied science, also known as adaptive management, enables Seventh Generation Institute to evaluate the effectiveness of our conservation efforts and continuously improve them.

Collaboration - or, can people get behind this project or method?
The Institute is nonpartisan and does not litigate or protest. 7GI does not take confrontational positions on issues. Instead, we partner with government agencies at all levels, user groups, tribes, community organizations and private landowners to find win-win alternatives and improve the stewardship of natural resources.

Impact - or is Seventh Generation Institute accomplishing its mission?
And finally, as 7GI develops and carries out projects we always ask the tough questions: Are we achieving our mission of conservation and sustainable use?  Has there been a true conservation impact?
