Susan G. Komen® is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Since its founding in 1982, Komen has funded more than $800 million in research and provided more than $1.6 billion in funding to screening, education, treatment and psychosocial support programs serving millions of people in more than 30 countries worldwide. Komen was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life.

Inland Empire Affiliate Story

Susan G. Komen Inland Empire® was incorporated in 1998 and hosted its inaugural Komen Inland Empire Race for the Cure® in 1999. Komen Inland Empire’s service area covers more than 27,000 square miles serving a population of over 4.3 million residents residing in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. 

Through events and donations, Susan G. Komen Inland Empire® is able to bring funding and hope to the fight against breast cancer. With corporate sponsorship, fundraising and donations throughout the year, progress is being made to improve access to programs and services as well as the quest for the cures.

Up to 75% of net proceeds received by the Inland Empire Affiliate stay within Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, supporting breast cancer education, screening, patient navigation, diagnostic services, and treatment support programs for the uninsured/underinsured, while 25% supports research. Since inception, Komen Inland Empire has awarded grants totaling more than $6.4 million dollars to local non-profit organizations in the Inland Empire.
