Beacon, Inc.

Beacon, Inc. (formerly Shalom Community Center) is a home away from home for people struggling with extreme poverty, hunger, homelessness, and more in south central Indiana. For more than 20 years, Beacon/Shalom has provided emergency supports and long-term solutions, including hunger relief, day shelter, overnight emergency shelter, housing, social services, financial support, and life essentials (like laundry, showers, and mail) to hundreds of people each day and thousands of people each year. We are considered by many to be the most important resource for people experiencing homelessness in Bloomington.

Beacon is a values-driven agency—hospitality, dignity, empowerment, and hope define all that we do. We use a low-barrier approach, a nationally recognized best practice, for reaching those most in need.
