Share Food Program

Share Food Program leads the fight against food insecurity in the Greater Philadelphia region by serving an expansive, quality partner network of community-based organizations and school districts engaged in food distribution, education, and food justice advocacy.

 Each month, Share Food Program:

 • Distributes millions of pounds of emergency food relief, in partnership with about 400 pantry partners, food sites, and community-based organizations across our five-county region

• Provides nutrition for over 300,000 children across nearly 800 schools and 70 school districts across 5 counties through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)

• Feeds more than 7,000 seniors through Senior Food Box Program (SFBP) and serving more than 115 senior sites in the region

• Home delivers 4,000+ food boxes directly to seniors and people with disabilities • Works with 900 volunteers who support food packing, calling, and distribution; 8,300 volunteer shifts were completed in 2023

 • Rescues and redistributes an average of 500,000 pounds of fresh food through our Philly Food Rescue program; 6.8M total in 2023

• Supplies fresh produce and nutritional education to approx. 1,200 families within the School District of Philadelphia

 • Grows and harvests 4,700+ pounds of food (annually) from our onsite Nice Roots Farm to donate to Share-affiliated pantries, community fridges, and mutual aid networks

Share Food Program is the lead agency for state and federal food distribution in County. Currently, Share works with 16 partner pantries in Delaware County to provide nutritious, free food to more than 20,000 residents experiencing hunger each month. The amount of individuals Share has served in DelCo has doubled since 2022.

In 2021, Share acquired an 8,400-square-foot warehouse in Ridley Township.

Currently under construction, this satellite warehouse will expand Share’s overall storage capacity, increase efficiency and reach, and enable Share to bolster its local response efforts around chronic hunger and sudden emergencies in this community.
