Shasta County Fire Safe Council

A nonprofit organization

The Shasta County Fire Safe Council's main goal is to protect lives, property, and the natural resources in Shasta County from the devastating effects of wildfires. Our primary focus is on:

  1. Educating the public about the dangers of wildfires and how to prevent them.
  2. Helping neighborhoods stay safe from the effects of wildfires by sharing information and organizing more Firewise groups.
  3. Improving escape routes for leaving in a fire emergency and giving quick access to emergency firefighting resources.
  4. Lowering the chance of damaging wildfires by reducing fuels that can catch fire and threaten homes.
  5. Supporting fire safe communities by securing grant funding for fuels reduction and other fire safe projects.

We currently support twelve Firewise Community groups in Shasta County. We provide educational materials, hold meetings, and raise funds to manage their costs like printing, outreach programs, as well as food and drinks for community events. These groups help us share important information with people about wildfire prevention and how to be ready.

We're aiming to make more progress by working closely with Federal, State, and Local Fire Agencies as well as numerous other organizations to reduce the effects of wildfires in our community. With your help we can continue to develop fuel reduction projects, so that together we keep Shasta County safe from the devastating effects of wildfires.
