Come visit our Boomtown Museum in the City of Shasta Lake!

We are completely volunteer-staffed! This year, 2026, we are open Thursday, Friday and the first Saturday each month  10-2 pm or by special request. We are "Those Dam Kids", relations to those hard-working men who built Shasta Dam and believe it is important to preserve the history and culture of the area. On display in our collection is a quilt exhibit, men's woodworking tools & memorabilia, the post office counter from the town of Kennett, military memorabilia honoring Veterans, and so much more. Plus, we have a research library & map collection, school yearbooks, a recording studio to preserve those memories, short historical videos on screen, and great docents! Community-minded, our Candy Booth at the Holiday Bazaar in the Community Center, 4499 Main St. takes place on Saturday November 21st - opens at 8 - 2pm and is just one of the events we participate in to fundraise and "keep the doors open". Our gift shop has Boomtown mugs, coffee, "dam good" homemade jam, local crafts & jewelry and lots of books - two published by our society - "Those Dam Kids" and "Empowered Women" both filled with great stories. We also host social and school educational tours and a future project is to develop a walking/driving historical tour. All of this and more is only possible through our membership, community support, fundraising and donations at large. Please consider us for a donation and/or support us by becoming a member - we send out 3 newsletters a year and have an awesome Annual Membership Appreciation dinner.  Not only will you support the education of our youth but you will also preserve history!

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
