My name is Sam. I was a victim of domestic violence and had to leave my animals behind with my abuser. It almost killed me. That's why I started ShelterMe Nebraska.

Up to 65% of the victims refuse to leave because they're afraid of what their abuser will do to their animals, and often animals are just as abused and used to coerce the victim to stay.

Together, we can change that. We foster the animals of domestic violence victims so they can escape the violence. We pay for everything because victims usually leave with nothing.  We never charge anything for our services, and the owner gets their animals back once they’ve settled into their new lives.
