Shepherds Center of Oakton-Vienna

A nonprofit organization

Can you imagine the feeling of isolation if you were no longer able to drive?  The Shepherd’s Center of Oakton-Vienna (SCOV) provides independence to the seniors in our community!   Donna has been receiving rides from SCOV volunteers since she gave up her driver’s license over a year ago.  “I had a fall … and could no longer drive.  I felt trapped in my house.  Someone recommended that I call the Shepherd’s Center.  I did, and how my life has changed!”  One of our volunteers drives her to the doctor every Wednesday to receive a treatment which must be administered weekly.  Most Fridays another volunteer drives her to get groceries or pick up prescriptions.

The Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna strives to help seniors remain independent and able to remain in their own homes. Seniors do not plan for "what happens when I am no longer able to drive?"  Last year, Shepherd's Center filled over 800 requests for rides to the doctor, grocery store, pharmacy, hairdresser and more. In addition to providing free transportation, we have volunteers who lend a friendly "ear" to someone living alone. We also visit shut-ins and those without family in the area.

All our services are free and provided by over 200 volunteers.

We hope you will help us make a difference in the life of a senior. Make a donation here, or visit our homepage at www.SCOV.org to learn more about the Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna.
