YOUR SUPPORT IS MORE CRITICAL NOW THAN EVER! The recent wildfires have displaced our locations which offers rehab for horses, dogs, and chickens. The quick evacuation has kept the animals safe but scattered. This has been a costly and terrifying ordeal and your donation means so much more than ever!

The work of Shoestring City Ranch is critical to so many. We offer a unique opportunity for individuals of all ages to engage in hands-on learning about animal care and green spaces. Many of our beloved animals have found a safe haven here after facing significant challenges. Our ranch serves as a safe home where they can thrive. A gift of $20 buys a bale of hay, and the animals go through LOTS of hay each month, and a gift of $45 pays for a horse to have their hooves trimmed, which is important for their gait and overall health, and $100 pays for emergency healthcare and vaccinations for each animal, which we had to offer immediately in order to move them.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2010, dedicated to providing educational experiences through interactions with our diverse animal residents, including horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens and a llama. Our organization is committed to fostering connections between people, animals, and nature.

Our facility is 100% volunteer based and we rely solely on donations to care for the animals. Our goal is to find forever homes for the horses and other animals. While housing the animals, we share their stories to teach the public about the humane treatment of animals as they await their permanent home. 

The animals are housed at Rancho Los Alamitos in Long Beach and other ranches throughout Southern California. We educate the community about the care of animals. We love what we do and hope you can contribute to the hard but rewarding work we put in for the love of all animals.
