$100,000 Goal

At Shop Class we have created an inspiring and engaging workshop where neurodivergent learners are truly valued and celebrated. At this neighborhood learning center we teach the basics of tool use, carpentry, art, entrepreneurship, electrical and sustainability combined with lessons on volunteerism, community building and inclusion. Our innovative programs feature activities that are crafted to build confidence and keep students excited about gaining proficiency in the trades and creative works. We have provided skills and training to thousands of people and will continue to do so with the support of our donors, corporate sponsors, volunteers and members. With that support we will be able to expand our workforce development programs and continue our work addressing critical issues like housing, climate, food insecurity and fair access to education in Sacramento.

Shop Class is dedicated to improving the lives of Oak Park residents through sharing tools, knowledge and encouragement. Our efforts include free weekend classes, free community events and volunteer projects that have a positive impact across our community. We provide drinks and snacks to those who call Stockton Blvd home and provide services to the unhoused whenever possible.  Our tool lending library is open to members and neighbors ensuring that access to tools is never a barrier to building something amazing. Our scholarship memberships and “pay as you can” programs ensure that all of our neighbors have access to the workshop regardless of their ability to pay.
