Signal Hill Parent Faculty Association (SHPFA)

Signal Hill elementary school prides itself on creating an engaging and inclusive environment for all students.  Our Parent Faculty Association's mission is to maximize the academic experience for ALL Signal Hill students. 

Our 2019-2020 school year mission is to "Brighten the Building." One of the biggest ways we can brighten the building is to improve our current playground.   We believe recess is an important part of the school day.  When we looked at our outdoor playspace, we quickly realized that we had a great opportunity to improve the space to become more stimulating and engaging.

Our vision is to create a playground where children of all abilities can play alongside each other in an non-competitive way.  In the Spring of 2020, we plan to break ground on additional playground equipment that will make our vision come true.  We received Board approval to make the following additions to our playground:

1.  Installing outdoor musical instruments to provide a creative outlet for children during the day.

2.  Installing a Bankshot Basketball court to add a game of "skill and challenge" that is often described as "mini-golf, but with a basketball"

3.  Adding colorful blacktop games to brighten the overall space.

We estimate our costs to be in excess of $100,000.  We know our project is the largest undertaking in SHPFA history, and we know with your generous  support we'll be successful.   There are lots of ways for you to get involved:

1.  Make a donation through our website - you can donate to a specific grade levels below or just make a general donation to our cause.

2. Become a sponsor:  Sponsorship is the perfect way to leave your personal touch.  To show our gratitude, all sponsors will have a personalized plaque hanging near the basketball court.  Please see "Our Sponsors" tab below for information on how you can get involved.

3. Join us for an adult night out:   On Friday, February 28, 2020 we are hosting an adult night out at the Mansion to raise funds for our playground project.  Ticket price includes food stations, beer, wine, and music.  We'll also have raffles, auctions, and so much more.  You don't want to miss this event.
